In general, the story is very original, multilayered and thought-provoking, with plenty of ideas to infer and a couple of amazing revelations that I won't spell out to avoid spoilers. This episode turns out very multifaceted and surreal, as the story seamlessly blends real and dreamy events to show how we are often unable to distinguish illusion from reality and end up getting trapped into dreams also, it provides an ironic commentary on human existence, full of dark humor and Kafka-esque transformations and some Christian symbolism may be found here as well, although only a bit of it. As he sits there reading the message, the mystery unravels before his eyes. One summer night, the main character enters the apartment and finds a sleeping girl, a fish, and what seems to be a letter from another detective previously working on the same case. Directed by Mamoru Oshii and based on his own story, it tells about a private detective spying on a father - daughter pair living next door (well, not entirely like that, but I won't go into detail to avoid spoilers). The second episode called File 538 is cut from an entirely different cloth. Eventually, the story turns out well-written and intriguing yet somewhat empty at the core. Besides, the story incorporates a certain ecological disaster and a certain historical event that, while interesting on their own, remain unexpanded and contribute very little to the main plotline. That being said, the story does have a certain problem, as it ends up lacking any distinctive central theme or well-defined message and even though the episode is tagged as "romance", it appears to be almost non-existent in the show. Without spoiling anything, the episode is simultaneously interesting and easy to follow, moving at a fine pace, providing enough twists to keep you intrigued, and offering a conclusive ending while leaving some of the mystery to the viewer's interpretation. Obviously, she decides to find out the truth about the picture's origins, and so the sequence of enigmatic events begins. One day, a girl named Mayumi dives into the ocean and finds a camera stuck on a coral riff later, she discovers a film inside the camera and, much to her surprise, the film contains a picture where she poses with some guy she doesn't even know. The first episode called Reflection is based on a story by Kazunori Ito (the scriptwriter for Ghost in the Shell & Patlabor movies), directed by Tomomi Mochizuki (known for his work on studio Ghibli's Ocean Waves and studio Manglobe's House of the Five Leaves). be roughly described as mystery + sci-fi + mindf*ck. Well, I guess it's high time to do the show some justice and bring it back to the surface.Īs the title clearly suggests, the OVA is a sort of Twilight Zone anthology, which means the episodes don't bear any connection plotwise, yet they have similar mysterious atmosphere and employ the same mix of genres that may Originally, it was supposed to be a showcase for young talents in the industry alas, only 2 episodes were made before the project was abandoned due to low sales, and the anime ultimately sunk into oblivion. Unable to identify the two, the investigator enters their room, only to find it empty save for a document that reads, "This story has been prepared for you, my successor. Meanwhile, a freelance detective investigates a run-down apartment on the outskirts of town, where he finds a middle-aged man and a young girl with a penchant for fish. Even stranger, rumor has it that the disappearing aircraft have been turning into giant carp. Enlisting the help of Kiwako's older brother, the three find out something even more troubling: the camera model has yet to be released. Upon developing the camera's film, she is shocked to find herself photographed alongside an unknown man. High school students Mayumi and Kiwako are relishing their summer vacation at the beach however, when Mayumi discovers a presumably lost camera while scuba diving, she cannot help but feel an insatiable curiosity.

So, you're able to parry it as much as you like after the initial Candyball hit. Normally, if you're player 1, you can only parry the Candyball once (since multiple parries were patched out), however this is not the case for player 2. It can be a good point of reference to where the ball is going to go whether you're trying to chain it, or if you're trying to defend against it.Ĭandyball has a special property if you're player 2, where you're able to parry it multiple times. When a Candyball gets going it becomes incredibly difficult to challenge, but thankfully, on most stages the Candyball will rotate towards where Candyman is currently standing on the stage. Candyball causes the ball to warp through the wall, ceiling, or floor, to the opposite position of the stage, which is already pretty threatening, but on top of that Candyman is able to chain it multiple times by hitting the Candyball, and he's able to parry it. Just know that if the Candyman is facing away from you with special, tap, tap tap!Ĭandy's special is very phenomenal, and really pushes him to be one the best characters in the game because it compliments his angles incredibly well. With his high jump, he's able to get into any of these positions with ease, and then can force some brutal tap charges on his opponent. When Candyman is able to get away from you, this is where the panic will start to kick in. However, when he's able to get a rotation in or when he has special, candy can be a nightmare to defend. It forces your opponent to cover the ball close, which allows you to create phenomenal pressure scenarios.Ĭovering Candy while he's in hit lag is pretty basic, all you have to do is stand outside of his parry range and bunt. It's extremely sharp, much like his air down, which can act kind of like a Dice up angle. Candy's smash is a mixed bag, with some people thinking it's incredible with other's thinking it's subpar. Not only that, but his forward spike is great for punishing your opponent, where your air down wouldn't normally be able to connect. His spike also noticeably has the best frame data in the game, and has a mini switch up angle as an option (back spike) that lets you pass the ball to yourself easily. His up angle is excellent too, having amazing synergy with his air down which makes your opponent question which way to face when covering him. His air down is his most infamous angle, being the tightest horizontal angle across all characters, and he's easily able to slip it in behind his opponent. TL DR: Easiest character to learn the game with, this is normal.Candyman's angles are some of the deadliest in the game, especially as the ball speed grows. I say 1/4 and not 1/5 because I expect some people will stick with him because it's easier to continue progressing with one character than branching out and experimenting with the rest, especially if they're winning games. You'll probably see Candyman mains drop down to about 1/4 once people try out all the other characters and choose one that fits their playstyle instead of just the one that is the easiest to learn with. I think I have about a 50% win rate against him in the hands of really good players. Go to the steam community chat, play a few rounds against the people there and you'll see a pretty even split of characters amongst them. I don't think Candyman is weaker or stronger than other characters, he's just the absolute easiest to get used to and play moderately well. A new player could not, for example, properly utilize Sonata or Switch's special at all in the same way a new player could properly utilize Candyman's special. I'm talking specifically about new player vs new player here, good Candyman players absolutely try and do specific angles at certain times in order to use the ability to the fullest. No planning where you're going to send the ball (Sonata), figuring out which other direction you want to send the ball (Raptor), setting up for an unpredictable spit (Latch) or timing a flipkick to return a ball at high speeds without getting hit (Switch), just fire 'n forget at some point and hope for the best That's incredibly easy to grasp and utilize. No wall-climbing, ceiling-skating, double-jumping or wall-jumping, just jumps really high. Entry for STMC 19 (Theme Meme) All screenshots are also included in the zip download. His movement mechanic is the easiest in the game by far. Candyman is fully dripped out for the occasion with a Supreme Saxophone, Gucci Tuxedo, Ebip branded pants and rainbow shoelaced shoes all paired together with a signature laugh-cry. Sidenote: I wonder how many new players started up their first game with Switch, did an upward hit and went "WTF JUST HAPPENED?" His angles are pretty simple, and especially on a downward strike you can easily retake your ball at low speeds with little effort. I'm with Vertiguous here, Candyman is extremely newbie-friendly. With version 3 it has further evolved in all directions. Volcano 2 evolved the plugin to become a true workhorse of utility and creative sound design.
However, Deerclops's strength may warrant waiting until pre/post Skeletron to fight it. There are no prerequisite bosses that are required to be defeated in order to summon this boss.Like all other bosses, Pylons cannot be used while the Deerclops is alive in a world.įor more elaborate strategies on defeating Deerclops, including weapon and arena recommendations, see Guide:Deerclops strategies.Leaving and re-entering the world will also cause it to despawn. Once one in-game day (24 real-world minutes) has passed since Deerclops's spawn, it will despawn as soon as no players are near. This will happen until a player gets close to the boss, at which point the fight will resume as normal. If all players are dead or there are none nearby, Deerclops will wander around instead of immediately despawning.Deerclops cannot pass through solid blocks, but if the player is above it, far enough away, and Deerclops cannot reach them, it will quickly rise through the blocks in order to reach the player. The Deerclops is completely immune to damage while in this state until the player is again within 30 tiles of its current location, causing it to revert back to its regular appearance and behavior. If the player is more than 30 tiles away from the Deerclops, it becomes cloaked in a shadowy aura, emits black smoke particles, turns a dark shade of purple while its eye turns magenta in coloration, and two reddish, semi-transparent afterimages begin closely orbiting around it.Shadow Hands predict the player's movements and are summoned more frequently as the Deerclops' health is lowered. In Expert Mode, Shadow Hands will be periodically summoned that either move toward the player slowly, move towards the player quickly and curve, or spin in place. If the player is above Deerclops for enough time, the Deerclops momentarily remains still before roaring and summoning five Shadow Hands around the player.Deerclops will occasionally stand in place and roar, inflicting the Slow debuff on all players within 50 tiles for 12 / 24 / 30 seconds, unless they are already affected by the debuff. However, this does not affect the amount of damage the Debris chunks deal to the player. The visual appearance of the Debris changes depending on the blocks Deerclops is standing on while performing the attack. The chunks of Debris can pass through blocks. If it is not close enough to its target to use the Ice Spikes attack, Deerclops will "scoop" and then throw numerous chunks of Debris into the air, which travel in large, vertical arcs before falling back down.Ice Spikes freeze the player for 0.33 / 0.67 / 0.83 seconds. Every third consecutive wave does not travel as far as the standard version, instead spreading outwards from both directions. If it is close enough to the player, Deerclops will raise its arms and smash the ground, summoning an escalating wave of Ice Spikes that quickly travels toward the player. If Deerclops has previously been defeated in the world, there is only a 25*1/4 (25%) chance for it to spawn naturally. Deerclops will not spawn at the "surface" layer above Underworld where the Blizzard effect displays.ĭeerclops can still spawn naturally even if the Journey Mode's enemy spawn rate slider is set to 0×.If in Don't dig up or Get fixed boi worlds, Deerclops will only naturally spawn in Snow biomes on the "true surface" layer, which is infected by evil biomes and does not display the Blizzard visual effect. There must be no other bosses or hostile events (except the Blood Moon) active. There must be no town NPCs within a 240×135-tile rectangle centered on that player. There is a player at the surface Snow biome. At least one player in the world has at least 9 defense or at least 200 health.Deerclops can be summoned manually by using a Deer Thing at any time in the Snow biome.ĭeerclops can also spawn naturally at midnight during a Blizzard on the surface Snow biome after fulfilling these conditions: It punishes you for being careless, but even more when you go back to the beginning and re-do the same thing all over and over again. Performance is not a problem, it’s consistent with its frames-per-second and I’m glad to say you wouldn’t have a hard time running on a mid-range PC.Īncestors: The Humankind Odyssey will give the survival experience to you lightly. Since its launch last year, Ancestors has gotten tons of updates that improved the overall stability of the game. It’s worth noting that the game performs impressively well. Then everything becomes shamefully repetitive once you’ve already learned the ropes. It’s quite rewarding, actually, but that’s that. It’s like every encounter, place, or interaction you do, it’s a new skill acquired. This is how in-depth the gameplay is and you’ll definitely have a good time learning these new things. There’s a lot of things to look after and learn. Sorrowful as it may sound, it’s not a good way to lose a lot of your progress by making one mistake. And there, I just lost a well-developed ape that I’ve emotionally gotten attached to for more than 10 hours of playthrough. I’ve gone out from being safe and explored the area, tried to examine as many things in my surrounding to develop intelligence but instead, my ape ended up in the belly of an African Rock Python. You’re literally an ignorant ape and you won’t be able to progress if you stay within your comfort zone. It’s a matter of trial and error, but it gets to a point that it just becomes frustrating. You can also pick up a berry, examine it, and potentially eat the berries without knowing if it’s poisonous or not. Like a rock, for example, holding it and throwing the rock can develop motor skills to further enhance how your ape can adapt, and still end up wondering what you can do with it. This involves having your ape hold things and analyze them to know its use. You need to have the “patience” because if you don’t then you might have to look into other games to play instead.Īs an ape, you also have to develop motor and intellectual skills in order for you to pass it on to the next generation of apes. It’s tedious, yes, but that’s the point of games like these which makes it enjoyable. When your ape gets injured, you’re not exactly taught how to stop bleeding or get the poison out of your system. You will have to figure out how to control your ape’s hysteria when its dopamine becomes too low because of being in unfamiliar territory. It’s your responsibility to make sure the ape you’re controlling is getting enough sleep, food, and water. There’s unfortunately no clear goal but to simply invoke the meaning of evolution. Such encouraging words as you blindly begin your mission to expand your tribe, to look for other areas to settle, flirt with other apes and potentially mate to grow your clan. You’re already warned when you start the game that it wouldn’t help you and you have to be a lot curious to survive – “We won’t help you much”. There are a handful of interesting mechanics that would reel you in for some survival escapade, but it wouldn’t last that long. It doesn’t mean it’s a bad game, no, it doesn’t mean it’s a good game either. Instead, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey has completely evolved my experience in games like this for better or worse. That’s what I initially felt about Panache Digital Games’ ape survival game, an idea that would have been great if pulled off correctly. But adapting isn’t a sweet tune that would ring in your ear when you play the game, unfortunately. We learn from things we try, we evolve and adapt, have a sense of fear. That’s the beauty of games like Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. Games like these don’t hand-hold players but encourage them to be curious, to experiment in builds, to make them explore. Survival video games have quite given a lot of players some decent challenge, but that never stopped them from learning every curve that it throws. But that change will definitely be rewarded! Be sure you have plenty of inventory space because this Cauldron is full of loot for the player to collect. This is different because the other Cauldrons will pit you up against monsters like Watchers. Unlike the other Cauldrons, most of the enemies that Aloy will be encountering in this Cauldron are going to be the human cultist enemies that are featured in Horizon Zero Dawn. In order to find your way to Cauldron XI, go to the jungle in the southwestern part of the map. This Cauldron is totally different from the other Cauldrons, so it's important for the player to know how to prepare themselves to take on the unique challenges that this Cauldron is going to be presenting them with. This Cauldron gives the player 6000 XP, one Skill Point, and unlocks Trampler, Shell-Walker, Snapmaw, Longleg, and Ravager.Ĭauldron XI is the third Cauldron that a player should do when they're making their way through Horizon Zero Dawn. Because this Cauldron is a little bit trickier than the first one, players shouldn't attempt this Cauldron until they're at least level 12, so try some other side quests in the area first. Along with completing this quest, players should make sure that they've already knocked out Cauldron Sigma before they make their way over to Cauldron RHO. This Cauldron becomes accessible to the player as soon as complete the A Seeker at the Gates quest in the main questline. In order to find Cauldron RHO, the player needs to go just south of the center of their map and look a little East of the Greatlands Camp. Want to know how to find each of the four Cauldrons in Horizon Zero Dawn? Keep reading!Ĭauldron RHO is one that's a little tricky to solve when it comes to the platforming puzzle that the player has to guide Aloy through before they reach the boss fight. Clearing a Cauldron unlocks the ability to override new machines, meaning that these challenging dungeons offer a pretty nice reward for any player brave enough to seek them out and complete them. The Cauldrons are marked on the map with a special symbol and each Cauldron gets more and more difficult as the player makes their way through the game and completes each one. These Cauldrons are known as Cauldron SIGMA, Cauldron RHO, Cauldron XI, and Cauldron ZETA. In total, there are four Cauldrons in Horizon Zero Dawn. But these challenges offer a pretty great reward for the players. In Horizon Zero Dawn, a Cauldron is a special dungeon that combines a platforming puzzle with a boss fight, making each one fairly challenging. One of the side quests that players can choose to take on is locating and solving each of the Cauldrons in the game. Multiple spritesheets can be associated to the same animation and not all sprites need to be on the same spritesheet for them to be accessible by a single set of animations. It will automatically import the image and name it. You can bypass the Resource tab to import an image by simply clicking 'New' when adding a resource to an animation.Enlarging an object in the animation will also enlarge its collision and wall detection boxes. You can reduce the number of frames needed for some actions such as rotating objects, or stretch-and-squash by using interpolation in the animations tab.Platforming cannot take place inside a Menu scene in a side-view project because wall detections will be ignored.Applying a filter to the topmost layer in a scene will apply the effect to the entire screen, but applying a filter to other layers will apply it to the tiles present on the layer. For instance, applying a colour and opacity filter to a layer in the Scene Settings can up the GL Calls count by at least two units. Filters on objects or scenes have a relatively large performance hit.Every instance of a simple object with RGB sprites when placed on the scene normally adds 1 - 2 GL Calls to the total GL Calls.Enlarging a 32x32 object by any amount does not change the amount of GL Verts or GL Calls it uses. Therefore, it is best to restrict specific tilesets to specific layers or use a single tileset wherever possible. However, adding even a single tile to a new scene layer increases the GL Calls count by one this number goes up for every new tileset used on the scene, whether Basic or Gimmick. Adding tiles to the scene does not increase the GL Calls count, irrespective of the number of tiles added to an individual layer. Every 32x32 tile or object added to the scene, devoid of graphics or not, adds 6 GL Verts.GL Verts and GL Calls are generally not affected by the size of the sprite being used. For medium-to-high end PCs, a GL Calls count below 80 should provide FPS at least above 50. GL calls is the number of draw calls to the GPU. Vertices make up a triangle (3 per triangle) which are used to render sprites. GL verts is the number of vertices in the scene.Pressing F1 and selecting Show Simple Draw Load from the Debug menu will show the FPS of the current game. |
